Break out your pre-2000 bikes, it is time to show them off. This is a casual social ride to show off your bike from the past century. Dust it off and get it in shape to roll. Helmet and lights recommended. As a tribute and thank you to visionary Horace Huffman and the vast amount of bike trails we enjoy in the Dayton area, we are going to ride along the Great Miami Trail. https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/5704090963/ Ride starts at 10am from Lot D of Welcome stadium, meet at the shelter next to the Dayton Bike Yard. We will ride the bike path north to Island Park and to Riverscape and back to the Bike Yard. Approximately 8.5 Miles. Don‘t worry if you don‘t have a pre-2000 bike, just bring a melon to carry (in your jersey or cinch sack) along with you....for all to share at the end of the ride.

After Labor Day, sunset arrives progressively earlier in the evening, so our daylight window to complete the ride becomes less than 2 hours.
To compensate, shortcuts allow slower riders adequate time to complete the loop before sunset.

Speed class C riders (12-15 mph average) should take the 6-mile shortcut on Manning Rd. from Little Twin Rd. east to Soldiers Home Rd., then turn right (south). NOTE: rough pavement in Shady areas on Manning Rd!

Speed class B riders (15-18 mph average) should take the 2- or 3-mile shortcut, depending on whether they are riding the loop in the clockwise or counter-clockwise direction.
If riding clockwise, take the 2-mile shortcut. Turn right from Venus Rd. onto Farmersville West Carrollton Rd, ride east. After crossing OH-4 at the traffic light and traversing the culvert, turn right (south) onto Union/Bear Creek Rd.
2-3 mile (10-15 minute) shortcuts from early to mid September.
If riding counter-clockwise, continue east to the end of Farmington Rd. after crossing Jamaica Rd., then turn left (north) onto Chautauqua Rd.

Riders who choose not to take a shortcut and ride after dark MUST have operating front and rear lights!
