Wright Wride 2009 Sunday - 23 Aug 2009: Touring Ride Celebrate the 106th anniversary of powered flight and the 40th anniversary of man’s first walk on the moon with a full-service bike ride in the country. Great food awaits you at our foodstops, including fruit, homemade baked goods, ice-cold drinks and an old-fashioned cookout at the lunch stop, which all riders will visit. We’ll also show you the way to Young’s Jersey Dairy, where hungry goats and other farm animals await children’s attention and fabulous ice cream lures everybody inside. Professional route markings plus full maps will ensure that you don’t get lost, and our friendly sag service will be available should you suffer a mechanical or physical mishap. Our cool, limited-edition T-shirt celebrates the aviation achievements of Daytonians Wilbur and Orville Wright and Neil Armstrong of Wapakoneta. New this year are limited-edition bike shorts from Aerotech Designs. These American-made padded shorts with an eight-panel anatomical design made of high-quality Lycra Spandex fabric add comfort to your ride, no matter how far you go. The shorts are in traditional black with the Dayton Cyclng Club logo on the side of each leg. • You must wear a helmet while riding the Wright Wride. • Riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. • We ride rain or shine! No refunds. Event Schedule Ride the lightly traveled roads of Greene County, where bike shop owners Wilbur and Orville Wright perfected their revolutionary aeroplane. Routes of 25, 50, 62 and 100 miles will treat you to gently rolling countryside, with a few hills to challenge your legs. Directions to Twin Towers Park, 501 W. Yellow Springs-Fairfield Road, Fairborn: From Interstate 675, take Exit 22 for Ohio 235 toward Fairborn. Following signs for Xenia, turn east onto Ohio 235. After 1 mile, turn left on Byron Road. After .8 mile, turn right onto West Yellow Springs-Fairfield Road.
